Peaceful Pasture
The First Snow
Seasons are connected to cycles. The sun rising and setting. Moon phases. Tides. Circadian Rhythms. Even affecting our emotions and moods. As the daylight hours diminish and sunlight wanes, we often experience a syndrome identified as SAD... Seasonal Affect Disorder. We might feel as if we actually are SOLAR POWERED!
Then comes the first snow. Flakes of white flutter down from the heavens. A miracle of nature lands gently on an eyelash. The air is filled with feathery bits of white frost. The browned, autumn earth is covered with a blanket of white. Our brains are flooded with recollections of snow related memories. Sledding. Snow forts. Hot chocolate. Holidays. Soup and guilt-free bread. "Warm woolen mittens."
One of the antonyms for the word "sad" is "sunny!"
So fight the feelings of melancholy and get outside. Grab some sunshine. Embrace the feelings of sunshine on snow. And keep the creative spirit alive.
Sincerely,
Sandra
